Pucker Up: Picture Perfect Kissable Lips On Your Wedding Day

The wedding is just a couple of days away and you’ve planned your outfit, visualized your hairstyle, and replayed your  day over and over again in your head. Everything should go perfect and according to plan. But there might be one beauty blunder you’re a little unprepared for…how to keep your lips colorful (and kissable) throughout the reception for lotsa photo taking.

Your makeup is last thing you want to worry about even when you have your own make up chaperone around you at all times. While eyeliner and mascara should stay in their place (unless you’re going on some kind of really adventurous underwater entrance kinda thing), lipstick is another story. Often times, you will start off the morning with a perfect pout, and before you know it, your lipstick has decided to magically disappear. To help you perfect your pout, I’ve put together a step-by-step guide for kissable lips. Check it out below, and get ready to pucker up…

Step 1: Exfoliate & Moisturize
First, you will need to use a lip scrub to exfoliate any dead skin and smooth out the surface of your lips. This will leave your pout ready for a rich lip balm, which we get to next. Some great scrubs include Sara Happ The Lip Scrub Brown Sugar Exfoliator. Keep your lips smooth and hydrated by applying a good balm every night before you go to bed for a week leading up to your date.

Step 2: Line
Once your lips are fully exfoliated and moisturized, you will need to add definition and shape with a lip liner that matches the hue of your lipstick. This will also help prevent feathering later on—meaning your lipstick won’t run outside of the lines.

Step 3: Tint
Now it’s time to fill it all in with color. Choose a tint that’s a pretty close match to the color of your lipstick. A lip tint will essentially “stain” your lips, so even if you are eating and drinking throughout the night, there will be some color on your lips at all times. Tints also work really well after your lips are exfoliated, so don’t forget step 1!

Step 4: Lipstick
After your lips are prepped, lined, and tinted, go ahead and apply your lipstick color. Just continue to make sure that you are using uniform shades through the process so that you aren’t getting a mixed, mucky hue. Some lipsticks last better than others…here are a few that have excellent reputations in the beauty world: Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip ColorMAC Lipstick.

Step 5: Seal
Your last step for getting smooch-certified lips is sealing the deal. This is a little trick I use myself. After you have applied your lipstick, hold a tissue over your lips and lightly dust translucent powder over the tissue. The powder will ever so lightly fall on your lips through the tissue, and it will set your lip color the same way it sets your makeup when you use it on your face.
Whether you are the bride to be, ,maid of honour or just simply a bridemaids, always be ready for lotsa phototaking to take place during the reception. Hair checked, flushed cheeks checked, lips checked, posture checked, now shine bright like a diamond.
